This will be their seventh appearance here.  Their first two unplugged shows in 2017 & 2018 were a great success. This excellent music venue is situated within The Green Hotel Golf & Leisure Resort. It is operated by Mundell Music, who has also promoted successful gigs at The Inn at Lathones and The Bein Inn.  The performance area to the rear of the hotel has separate access, and in keeping with Mundell Music’s previous music ventures, gigs are very intimate. This means the audience really feels like part of the experience as the acts don’t ‘disappear’ after their performance. Instead they can often be found hanging around for a drink and a chat with fans! The capacity is limited and therefore fans are advised to book early.

Classic Clapton

CLASSIC CLAPTONwas formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne long before the term “tribute band” was invented. In guitar/vocalist Mike Hall, the band possesses a front man who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too!  In 1999, Mike won a national look-alike competition held at Madam Tussauds, London. Mike has met Slowhand twice, and even received a message of encouragement from the guitar maestro (written on a Concorde menu).  In 2001 the band were honored to perform at Eric Clapton’s Fan Club Convention in London.

TYNE TEES TELEVISION were so impressed that they made a programme about them, called ‘COVER THEIR TRACKS’.  It was shown in 2000 and received rave reviews, leading to national recognition.

Since then, they have continued to perform throughout the UK including concerts atThe Royal Festival Hall, Londonand a triumphant appearance on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festivalin 2002.  They have performed numerous concerts in Europe including Spain, Estonia,Holland & France.  In 2009 they appeared for the first time in Mumbai. They were invited back for3 more concerts in India in 2016. This included performing in front of 3500 people in Mumbai. In 2017 they also appeared in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In the past 34 years CLASSIC CLAPTON has become something of a rock institution.

For this unplugged concert, Mike & Adam will both sing & play acoustic guitar. Their show is based around Slowhand’s multi-million selling album Eric Clapton / unplugged” – Eric’s best-selling album ever, winning numerous Grammies and being responsible for his resurgence as a world superstar in the 90’s.

CLASSIC CLAPTON unplugged will include many of the best tracks from Eric’s unpluggedalbum, including Tears in Heaven, Before You Accuse Me, Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out, Running on Faith, Alberta, Old Love and of course Layla.  The concert will also feature new acoustic versions of other Clapton Classics such as Wonderful Tonight, Lay Down Sally, Promises, Change the World and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

NEARLY 2 HOURS OF CLASSIC CLAPTON

CLASSIC CLAPTONhave released three albums.  Firstly “THE MUSIC OF ERIC CLAPTON” contains brilliant cover-versions of 17 Clapton Classics.  Their second album is a live double CD ”CLASSIC CLAPTON Unplugged” recorded at Belfast Waterfront Hall.  In 2005 they released their third album “CLASSIC CREAM” – featuring 20 songs by the sixties supergroup.  All three albums will be available for purchase at The Green Hotel.

Eric Clapton has been a major international star since the mid 1960’s, when he revolutionised electric guitar playing, with his virtuoso performances in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.  He has won an incredible 19 Grammies and is the only triple inductee into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of The Yardbirds, Creamand as a solo artist).

Eric is now in his seventies.  Hisrecent tours unfortunately have visited only a limited number of large UK arenas.  It is unlikely that Eric would ever undertake an UnpluggedTour. If fans want to hear all of his hits played live & unplugged in more intimate surroundings, they should attend a CLASSIC CLAPTON Unplugged concert.  The whole of Clapton’s illustrious career will be covered including Cream, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Blind Faith, The Yardbirds, Derek & The Dominos andthe solo years.

If he can be dubbed alternative these days it’s because he cleaves to the verities, sure in the power and emotion of his own voice, and happy to make it’s setting the music of the honky-tonk, the western swing band, and the original Opry.

Sin City (May 1, 2019) :::  The 50thAnniversary All-Star Tribute to THE FLYING BURRITO BROS., has finalized its line-up of legacy musicians, culled from The Who’s Who of Country Rock, Americana & UK classic rock music genres. This is nothing less than a deep dive into the origins of contemporary legends like The Eagles, their forbears The Byrds, and their descendants – The Flying Burrito Bros.– founded in 1969 by Gram Parsons, Bernie Leadon, Chris Hillman, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Chris Ethridge and Michael Clarke. Parsons, whose early death & Joshua Tree cremation are the stuff of rock myth, resurrected The Byrds with his dynamic country & western phrasing on 1968’s seminal & influential “Sweetheart of The Rodeo,” following the departure of David Crosby & Gene Clark. Parsons then left with Hillman to form The Flying Burrito Bros.

The band continued through the 1970s, never capturing the Gram Parsons front man dynamic, until 1979 when singer/ songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Greg Harris was ‘discovered’ by stalwarts Kleinow, & then Burritos members (Byrds’) bassist Skip Battin & Gib Guilbeau. Greg’s performance of classic Parsons’ material was uncanny. This era of the band, mostly intact, continued into the 1990s.

Greg Harris, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist arrived in LA signed to RCA Records in 1977. He worked a short stint in the infamous Palomino Club house band. He did session work for everyone from The Everly Brothers, Alabama & Gene Parsons, joining The Flying Burrito Bros. in 1979 and recorded two projects, Live in Tokyo in 79’ and The Burrito Bros “Live In Europe” in 86’.

Jeff Pevar, sought after guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist – is possibly best known for his touring & recording work with sixties music icons, David Crosby, CSN, Phil Lesh & Friends, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Jazz is Dead & Jefferson Starship, with whom he played bass for the Woodstock 40th Anniversary Tour. He also supported Bette Midler, Rickie Lee Jones and many others.

Tony Morley, bassist – has amassed such a heady range of credits, it would be impossible to list all of them. Notably, he has toured/ recorded in the U.S., Japan, Germany, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Scandinavia with Jefferson Starship and Live Dead ‘69

Richard Newman,drummer/percussionist is one of Britain’s most in demand musicians. He recently completed a massive tour with Paul Rogers & Jeff Beck. He has also toured late greats Alvin Lee, Rory Gallagher, Jefferson Airplane’s Paul Kantner in Jefferson Starship, and he continues with Deb Bonham and Live Dead ’69.

Legendary drummer and JCM founder Jon Hiseman died in the early hours of Tuesday, 12th June 2018 in Sutton, England aged 73, leaving his wife, saxophonist and composer Barbara Thompson, his daughter, singer Ana Gracey and his son, financier Marcus Hiseman, along with four grandchildren.

The cause of death was complications of surgery that he underwent in May 2018 to remove a brain tumour.

“…he left a huge void in the lives of family, friends, fellow musicians and all those he had met and inspired during a lifetime of dedication to music.”

Extract from rock music critic and author Chris Welch’s Tribute to Jon Hiseman

In the last year of his life, Jon Hiseman formed JCM, a trio with the Colosseum members Clem Clempson, on guitar, and Mark Clarke, on bass. The group made an album, “Heroes,” that contained music written by former collaborators Hiseman had outlived, among them Jack Bruce, Allan Holdsworth, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Graham Bond and Ollie Halsall. Ironically, the album will become a tribute to Hiseman himself.

JCM began a tour in April 2018, but cancelled it as the brain tumour advanced. Clem and Mark would like to announce that in alignment with Jon’s wishes, JCM is movin’ on with Ralph Salmins on the drums
