THE CITY SINNERS PLAY THE MUSIC OF GRAM PARSONS AND EMMYLOU HARRIS
THE CITY SINNERS have reformed in 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘Grievous Angel’, the first official collaboration between GRAM PARSONS and EMMYLOU HARRIS. The show will feature most of the album, in addition to other songs associated with the duo.
The band features some of the top players on the Scottish country/Americana music scene, fronted by singer/songwriter JOHN HINSHELWOOD and former Peach Conty singer LOUISE McATEE. Guitarist IAIN BARBOUR is an in-demand session player, with Jason Ringenberg and Jim Lauderdale among his collaborators, and MALCOLM McMASTER is one of Scotland’s top pedal steel players, having worked with Laura Cantrell, Chip Taylor, and Martin Stephenson. Bass player DAVID McKEE has played with many leading Edinburgh bands, and is currently with The Wynntown Marshals, one of Scotland’s premier Americana outfits. The line up is completed by drummer FRANK McHUGH, who toured extensively throughout the USA and Europe in the 90s, including a stint with Big Sur, whose ‘Please Stay’ was a Radio One single of the week.
