27-09-2009 - Tim and Sam’s Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam
What a very different night! It's a rare event to attend a gig where not a word is sung. But what a treat - a mix of Oldfield meets Radiohead meets Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Multi instrumental and multi interchanging of instruments. Check them out - hopefully they will return.
SECOND REVIEW
A young group from North Wales who displayed an impeccable use of Guitar, Drum, Bass, piano and Wind instruments to produce a truly Melodic, slightly Melancholic set, which reverberated Beautifully around this small but Intimate Venue. Each Member of the Group frequently changed instruments all to a great effect producing an overall sound which brought about Recollections of Felt, The Dirty Three, and in particular Warren Ellis' work with Nick Cave in Film Scoring. The Number called 'choices' also Resonated The Velvet Underground. In Comparing the Group with these artists, it is not to deny their obvious talent but merely to give you an idea of what they actually sound like. It is unusual in this day and age to hear a set of instrumental work from a band so youthful but rest assured this band is well worth the catching if you can as they are regularly playing up and down the Country and Hopefully we shall see them again at the Inn, if so, make sure you get along ! The end piece, which finished with all four members on Percussion was a great Finale. DAVID-MCOWAT
