09-05-2009 - Deborah Bonham Band - Sister of Led Zep John with fantastic voice
A Wonderful night of music at all levels. 1st up was "Underdog", winners of Fife Schools best Band who played a 20 minute set of their own material - full on rock music, with special praise for the drummer!
Next on was "Reece" a solo singer armed only with guitar and bandages for his fingers delivered a 3 song set with a rare talent to change tempo mid-song. A talented young man indeed.
last up was Deborah and her Band and it was a great night of songs from both "Duchess" and "The Old Hyde" and a few really special songs delivered in the Deborah Bonham style - She has some voice!! Great memories from the night included Led Zep's "The Battle of Erinmore" and Ted McKenna (drummer from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band) played on Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" - Ted had played with Robert Plant's band as a 17 year old and John Bonham had taught him the twirling drumstick routine. On satge the band was joined by the incredible Joan Bonham - still a sprightly 83 year old battering out the lyrics of her son John's anthem. Joan was a founder member of the "Zimmers", the world's oldest Rock Band where she helped raise hungreds of thousands of pounds for "Age Concern". All in all a memorable night!
